About Robert:
Robert began his career as a songwriter, almost as soon as he could put pen to paper. He started performing publicly, playing and singing, before he could drive a car. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Robert grew up around the music business, as his father owned an indie label in Nashville, Tennessee.
In his teens, Robert played with various bands, in bars from New Orleans to Pensacola. Later, he joined the Army and after his tour, he made his way out to California to continue his career in music and film. Robert has been fortunate to play with some renowned musicians, such as members Bob Will’s band, the Texas Playboys and Emmy-award winners, The Rippingtons, and he has shared the stage at songwriter venues with well known writers such as Victoria Shaw (The River, Garth Brooks) and Sheryl Crow.
While working in the film industry, Robert headlined overcrowded west coast clubs such as the famous Cowboy Palace in Chatsworth, CA, and toured the wider southwest region as “Bobby Stewart and the Troublemakers”. A severe back injury in 1993 sidelined him for a period while he went through rehab to regain the use of his left leg. After the 1994 Northridge earthquake, he and his wife Jennifer decided to move to Austin, Texas.
Robert continued to work in the film and special FX business. Here he also headlined shows at famous clubs such as Dance Across Texas, before retiring from the road. Since that time, he has continued to work in the film and broadcast sectors, producing and writing for film, writing new songs and achieving one of his dreams – designing a paintball field. He currently lives in the Live Music Capital of the world, Austin, Texas, with his wife and children.
